Today’s digital printing market is quite different than even one year ago. Volumes are up. Applications are exploding. Market penetration is growing. But just how you see digital printing depends on what vantage point you are viewing from. Commercial printers and trade shops see the opportunities quite differently than creatives do. Creatives see the opportunities quite differently than publishers do. And publishers see the opportunities different from either one of them. Each marketplace has different perspectives, different levels of adoption, and different perceived opportunities, challenges, and market drivers. We will explore the perspectives of each of these unique marketplaces in the two latest TWGA Special Reports.
TrendWatch Graphic Arts has released a pair of comprehensive Special Reports on digital printing in the commercial printing, creative, and publishing markets. Formerly announced as “Digital Printing 2006: Growth and Convergence in the Marketplace,” the 104-page “Digital Printing 2006: Printers” and 92-page “Digital Printing 2006: Creatives & Publishers” take a comprehensive look at the continued growth and expansion of digital printing into these key market segments.
These Special Reports analyze the data from past and current TWGAPrinting, Design & Production, and Publishing market surveys, looking at current levels of adoption of digital and variable data printing, the unique business challenges and sales opportunities of digital printers, changes in various types of digital printing volumes in the commercial printing industry, the attitudes and perspectives of creatives and publishers toward digital and variable data printing, and planned purchases in all three segments. Data is broken down by market segment, as well as by shop size, where many of the trends driving this industry are found.
Also available is our Mini-Report “Digital Press & Printer Investment Projections for the Printing, Creative, and Publishing Marketplaces” valued at $249. This 18-page report provides the coveted investment projections for printers, creatives, and publishers in digital presses, black-and-white and color copiers, and large-format printers.
Key Conclusions from the Report…
Digital printing is on a solid growth track. In addition to its steady growth as a sales opportunity among printers, we are seeing nice, consistent growth in digital printing and black-and-white and color copying volumes, as well as significant plans to invest in additional digital printing units, whether as upgrades or as additional capacity. Among creatives and publishers, we see consistent growth in their use of key applications like Web-to-print, variable data printing, and short-run digital printing; and among publishers, we also see modest but significant investment in digital printing hardware.
Key to growth in the digital printing marketplace is the diversity of press sizes, speeds, and price ranges in the equipment market, reducing the barrier to entry and making digital production affordable for production environments and marketing budgets of all sizes and volumes. The data clearly show that the line of demarcation between serious players and those who can only afford to dabble are disappearing.
Researcher’s Comments
“Much of the news in these reports is decidedly good for the digital printing marketplace, but there are still areas of concern,” notes Heidi Tolliver-Nigro, TWGAanalyst and author of the reports. “Printers are finding great opportunities in the variety of digital printing applications, regardless of the sizes and speeds of their presses. But while we are seeing growing openness among creative and publishers, there is a gap between the limited but growing volumes in these marketplaces and the strong growth we’re seeing at print shops. When taken together, these reports are both harbingers of good news in the commercial printing industry and a call to action in the creative and publishing marketplaces, where creatives and publishers are still figuring out where digital printing fits in their business models. We are, however, very encouraged by the innovation we are seeing, which often trumps volume in the early stages of market development.”
News Highlights
- 41% of all graphic arts firms now say they offer some type of digital printing in-house;
- 17% of graphic arts firms say that their volumes of full-color digital printing are increasing “a little” (1-25%) or “a lot” (25% or more);
- 11% of creatives see “digital printing” as a top sales opportunity for their businesses.
- 16% of publishers see “competition from Print on Demand publishers (like subsidy, self publishers)” as a top business challenge in the next 12 months, varying only by a few percentage points by type of publisher.

I agree with the article, when it says that it’s on a solid growth track. More and more businesses and companies are becoming more technologically advanced. I liked this article, as it showed me some of the examples of the expanding technological world.
Comment by Jesse MacLean August 22, 2006 @ 2:18 pmThe article shows that though the industry of graphics and printing is interesting… it takes money… sometimes people don’t always have money but the necessities for the industry are sometimes sacrificed for… am i saying that we should not eat in order to buy supplies for the printng industry… no. but i am sayign that if you have to choose between a new car and a certain piece of material to help you with your profession, so to speak, then you should probably choose the latter of the two.
Comment by Jon Dail August 22, 2006 @ 2:20 pmIt seems like the prospects of digital printings is boundless. The creative and publishing marketplaces need to get with the game and start incorporating digital printings into their business if they want to survive. If I were an investor, I would definitley want to invest some of my money in the digital printing business due to the rate of growth it is seeing recently. The only flaw I see is next year e-paper is coming out on the shelves and that might hurt printing businesses a lot if that is a success. But then again, it could help them if they adapt to the e-paper method and are able to make products using that technology.
Comment by Seth Schattner August 22, 2006 @ 2:20 pmIt looks like digital printing is doing exactly what we expeced it to: grow. With 41% of graphic arts firms claiming to have some sort of in house digital printing capacity, digital printing will probably be the main form of printing very soon. According to this article, the difference in growth rests mainly in the fact that some of the larger firms are able to afford the new technology more easily than individual creatives or smaller firms. The article also mentions the high amount of innovation that is comming into the market place with the new technology. This is sure to provide an outlet for many new forms of technology that will make printing both easier and (eventually) cheeper.
Comment by Mary Black August 22, 2006 @ 2:22 pmI don’t totally understand what this article is about. I guess it’s great that digital printing is on the rise. This is probably a good thing for the companies involved with digital printing. More business always means good things for them. I really don’t understand this enough to make further comment.
Comment by Tanner Curtis August 22, 2006 @ 2:23 pmI think this very good for business it allows us a s a whole to move farther in to the future. It gives the ability to produce better quality things and able to make more money. all this is at affordable prices which will help the business grow even more. and last it might provide more jobs in the marketplace on how fast the business grows.
Comment by Phillip Bates August 22, 2006 @ 2:23 pmThis article shows how the technological field of graphic printing is growing, and how creative, commercial, and publishing markets. Digital printing has exploded in the last couple of years which has been expected by analyists.
Comment by Wil Hutchinson August 22, 2006 @ 2:23 pmthis article is very inspiring to me because it makes me hopeful. i would really like to include graphic design in some of my fashion designs and the fact that the market is growing will make that easier. its very interesting to read this aricle because even before reading it i realized by just looking around town the boom in artistic graphics. this article is very informative and helpful.
Comment by Nancy Todd August 22, 2006 @ 2:24 pmthe increase of digitial printing is great for consumers. i like the article how it talks of the different ways in which printing is expanding outword into the world. this will give every company a better and more inexpensive way of printing high quality prints digitially.
Comment by logan pool August 22, 2006 @ 2:24 pmI think that it’s important that people are becoming more aware of the growing technology in use. It’s becoming more available to the people who need it or just want to use it. People are catching up with the technology as it grows and that’s important to people who’s job is based on such technology. Simplifying printing has helped those that don’t so much know what they’re doing. The availiabiliy is also becoming much easier as new things come out and prices go down. Let’s just hope mass printing companies don’t lose money and/or business.
Comment by Taylor Hodges August 22, 2006 @ 2:24 pmToday’s printing world is becoming more and more technical with all the new technology and new items coming out every year. Today it takes only a few minutes to print on a shirt when a couple of years ago it would take up to 15 minutes to print a design on a shirt. More and more people want to have a job that requires design and printing so the growth of the digital printing business is growing faster and faster. I think it would be cool to have a job using printing and digital software. But i wouldn’t go as far to buy a a printing machine for myself because they coast way to dang much. I would love yo have a job with all this technology but it is such a competetive job and it would be hard for me to get a job!
Comment by Steven Harkless August 22, 2006 @ 2:24 pmToday’s industry had grown very very much. The growth of the digital printing technology had helped us in many ways.
Comment by Daiki Furuzono August 22, 2006 @ 2:25 pmI also agree with the article, I think digital printing is going to rapidly grow in the future to advertise large companies advertisements, so I think more people should reconize it more and start to invest in it cause it going to grow fast.
Comment by Justin Latimer August 22, 2006 @ 2:26 pmDigital printing is a growing buisness and more companies should start finding room for it. With good reports, and statistics its just what a big company could be missing. It sounds stable and safe and a good investment.
Comment by Ryon Swain August 22, 2006 @ 2:26 pmi think what there doing is good in the feild. there is new tech ever time you look around the croner and the printing is keeping up with everything else. its is on money and the stuff you get out of it is worth it.
Comment by tim combs August 22, 2006 @ 2:27 pmThis article was very informative on the different facets of digital printing and its impact on the growing market. The purpose behind the process of digital printing and the product aimed to be created is the main delineation of each type, whether it be commercial or creative. A deeper understanding of the benefits and acessibility to each form of digital printing was made, creating a new wealth of knowledge to which I can access.
Comment by Melita Kurahovic August 22, 2006 @ 2:27 pmTo me it looks like the digital printing business is on the rise and improving. One reason I can make that conclusion is that the statistics in the article actually mention that the competition from “Print on Demand Publishers is rising and will become a problem for at least some businesses in the next year. Another reason is more and more businesses are begging to offer an in-house digital printing. Another reason that it looks like this is improving is because it’s getting more attention, even this article was written about it! I think that this is good for the graphics jobs and those who want to go into careers with graphics in the future.
Comment by Ashley Thompson August 22, 2006 @ 2:28 pmIt seems that digital printing is becoming more and more important as the months and years come and go. Since more businesses are starting to invest more of their money into digital printing…people who are well skilled in digital printing and printers are needed more now then in the past few months. I think that since digital printing is a growing market it seems that people who are better in these areas can make more money and can sucessfully do it as a career. I enjoyed the article because it shows that if I wanted to I could make digital printing a career.
Comment by Jasna Kurahovic August 22, 2006 @ 2:30 pmThis article pointed out how much the digital printing industry has grown, even since last year. The advances in technology have allowed many large businesses to expand and become more efficient.
Comment by Justin Blackburn August 22, 2006 @ 2:30 pmDigtal printing has exploded into the graphics industry. It is being used by all aspects from creative designers, to producers, to entrepreneurs. It has definitaly taken a strong hold on the industry and though it hasant grown as much as some may have predicted there is no doubt that, in time, it will replace the conventional methods. I predict that in time non-digital methods will be used, for the most part, by purists only
Comment by Kyle Kolpek August 22, 2006 @ 2:36 pmthe article was about how much digital printing has grown over the last years. also have fast it is still growning today. how much digital technology is out there now that we can use to take pictures, edit pictures etc. the quality of pictures ow is soooo much better than it was with old fashion camera’s. the volume that we can do now is also soooooo much larger now than it was.
Comment by Justin Ford August 22, 2006 @ 6:03 pmP A R T Y
Comment by Justin Ford August 22, 2006 @ 6:06 pmI personally think that the expansion of printing into the digital world is necissary. With digital printing publishers can more quickly produce whatever products are necissary for that buisness.
Comment by Brennan Talkington August 22, 2006 @ 6:08 pmDigital printing also makes it easier for companies to directly import and edit their photos befor sending them to be printed. another direct positive of digital prints is that the size of the pictures can be manipulated directly.
More and more businesses are using digital printing as this article has pointed out. TrendWatch Graphic Arts made reports to analyze the data from past and current TWGAPrinting, Design & Production, and Publishing market surveys, looking at current levels of adoption of digital and variable data printing, the unique business challenges and sales opportunities of digital printers, changes in various types of digital printing volumes in the commercial printing industry, the attitudes and perspectives of creatives and publishers toward digital and variable data printing, and planned purchases in all three segments. Data is broken down by market segment, as well as by shop size, where many of the trends driving this industry are found.
Comment by Matt Broughton August 22, 2006 @ 6:08 pmTheses reports tell us that the Graphics industry is growing rapidly. Used by all aspects from creative designers to entrepeneurs, it should be easily replacing all normal methods of printing in no time.
article was just talkin about how digtal printing is upgrading and changing since last year because of that many company are growing.
Comment by megan LaRue August 22, 2006 @ 6:09 pmDigital printing is definately on the move to becoming even bigger than it is right now. Everything is getting easier and more luxurious in my opinion due to this method of printing. For example, a few years ago we were limited to only having black and white print cartrages. Now, we have the ability to print things in any color that we would like to. Also, it seems like these printing companies are planning on invest in more digital printing units either as upgrades or more capacity. Which ever way they invest in this idea it would make a difference in the digital printing industry as we know it today.
Comment by Cameron Ewert August 22, 2006 @ 6:09 pmi LiKE THiS ARTiCLE. i DONT LiKE TECH. VERY WELL. BUT i LOVE COMPUTERS. GRAHPiCS HAS HELPED ALOT OF PEOPLE, iN MANY WAYS. Comment by logan smith August 22, 2006 @ 6:11 pmDigital printing markets change every year. Their are many diffrent compaines in the digital prining market. There is the Tenwatch graphic arts how released the “digital printing 2006: Growth and convergence in the marget place” the 104 page. I have to be honest about this artical i thought it was dull. i really don’t care about the digital printing market. i thought it wouldl be pretty good if you where researching a paper on printers, but if i had to read this and then take a test on it i would fail my test. Any digital printing is used alot and it’s very good to know about how to work a printer like that.
Comment by Ashley Wheeler August 22, 2006 @ 6:11 pmDigital printing is indded a very popular thing, but it didnt used ti be. When digital printing first started, the pictures wernt the best quality, compare to regular pictures, but that was only a start! AS time progressed, it became better and better quality, and is sometimes avaiable to the public. Fore example; the printing stations at Walmart, and places like that.
Comment by Cory Tibbitts August 22, 2006 @ 6:12 pmDigital printing is STILL progressing even today! Perhaps, far off in the future, there will be pictures with such amazing quality, people from our time would think they would take HOURS to print! when it may not even take one second with the technology that the future holds!
This article is interesting to me me because i didn’t know digital printing is such a vast field. i accually quite suprising! i was not aware it was possilbe to write 100 pages about digital printing. aparently there are diffent vantage piots when dealing with digital printing. i really don’t understand what that means. However i am reliaved that the gap between serious players and dabblers is dissappearing, becaus i engoy printing and design. This coulb be a good thing because progress in printing could mean endless possiblities for newspapers, and magizines, and graphics.
Comment by jacolby gardner August 22, 2006 @ 6:12 pmDigital printing seems to increase importance all the time as well as black and white/ color printers. Buissiness’s are using more graphic orientated work.
Comment by logan smith August 22, 2006 @ 6:13 pmDigital printing has expanded over the years. Technology has really changed, digital printing has worked for businesses and so much more. The working industry uses it a lot. Digital printing will be here for a long time, with people using different methods for it. Its not that hard to get for yourself to be updated in technology. It changed so much in just one year, that it will be even better in the future. It mekes it so much easier. So many different jobs require it which you will have to know how to do it.
Comment by Marvin Edmonds August 22, 2006 @ 6:13 pmit looks like there inproving digitle printing yearly make huge inprovement on black in white and color printings and more buissnessis are useing more graphics for there work

I understand that we do need to upgrade into digital photography because it is a vital part of our lives and it provides us with a better way to take pictures. Digital ways of developing film opens the field for more people to gain jobs aswell. Digital is also a lot faster in producing the products necessary to the field of wirk you are in. Overall, the use of digital photography is a new invention that will become a very important part of our lives.

Comment by stephen young August 22, 2006 @ 6:16 pmI agree with the article because it is moving us foward by growing. It has been used by all different jobs and careers such as creative designers, producesr, and entrepreneurs. And the advances in the technology are helping businesses grow larger and better. I think its interesting how this technology has been rapidly increasing over such a small amount of time. And with the technology increasing so much in a matter of one year, in a few years we will be so much further in our capibilities to do certain things with technology.
Comment by Kari Wickstrom August 22, 2006 @ 6:17 pmIt seems like yearly our technology has been improving and that is a good thing. This article talked about how digital printing is being used more and more in jobs. i want to become a fashion designer so that would mean that probably by the time that I hopefuly have my job this digital printing would in some way be helpfull to what it is that i am doing in my job.i think that this digital printing is not only going to be helpfull to me but to every single person in the world.i also think that maybe in 5 years there is going to be more technological advances therefor it is going to make great changes.
Comment by Maria Rodriguez August 22, 2006 @ 6:17 pmThis artical shows that today’s printing has shown to be more and more different each year. The article also shows that though the industry of graphics and printing is interesting it takes money. Comment by Daska Waide August 22, 2006 @ 6:18 pmI agree with the atricle on the fact that a buisness should keep u with new graphic technology. Ilike this article because I know what it is talking about when certain companies have to keep up with new graphic technology, on the fact that I work for a company that does graphic design for just about anything.
Comment by Matt Adkins August 22, 2006 @ 6:19 pmi think it is very confusing. the growth of tecnology is amazing but it costs so much. its a very big buisness and is very busy. the need for jobs will go up for digital printing witch is a good thing.

Comment by Brandon Collier August 23, 2006 @ 2:28 pmI think this article is mainly about how the growth of digital printing affects different people different ways. Depending on if you are a commercial printer or independent, you may feel different ways about it. I think that it is a good thing that digital printing will soon overtake old methods, because it is faster, better quality, and more efficient. The article also talks about how these views, plus statistics and other data about digital printing are written out in some TWGA report that costs almost 300$. The article is kind of hard to understand.

Comment by Brooks fitzpatrick August 23, 2006 @ 2:30 pmI really think this is all true. And put aside it is a really good article. It talks about commerical printers and publishers
Comment by Tyler Crane August 23, 2006 @ 2:30 pmI think this is a good article it talks about commerical printers and creative an publisher to see the difference from there side of view.
Comment by Jerrin Fulcher August 23, 2006 @ 2:30 pmI agree with the article that digital printing has definately evolved over the years. They have gone from black and white printing to colored, and I think that over the next few years digital printing will be very fast and very accurate.
Comment by Garner DeVoe August 23, 2006 @ 2:30 pmThe article was interesting. It explains how it seems each year our technology is improving more and more. It specifically talked about the improvement of printers. Also, the fact that more and more places are becoming more technologically centered is great for everyone because it makes it a whole lot easier for one place to communicate with another.
Comment by Kim Bayert August 23, 2006 @ 2:30 pmThis article is basically about how technology, digital printing in this case is always changing and always improving. About how old printing ways are becoming more and more uncommon and what types of new technology is out there and that its even becomming available for household use.
Comment by Donald Barlow August 23, 2006 @ 2:31 pmto me it seems that the market is growing at a rate that no one can keep up with and have gotten to a point where there are things that are way ot epensive for an average worker on a basic salary and to me it seems if u have a printing buisness you have to spend at least $1,000.00-$30,000.00 for one machine just to stay at a competitive rate
Comment by lamar boone August 23, 2006 @ 2:31 pmPrinting is quickly changing to digital. Everything that used to be what was new last year is now going out of date. It looks like that at its growing rate, digital printing will be much better than it is now. Also, it appears that as the printing hardware changes the digital printing market increases.
Comment by Clay Rehmel August 23, 2006 @ 2:31 pmDigital printing market changes frequently.A big part of the Publishing Marketplace. A real important part of our econamy.
Comment by Andria Vargeson August 23, 2006 @ 2:31 pmI think graphic printing will continue to grow every day untin the apocalypse arrives at whatever year that may be. With the speed the companies have printers printing at now, only God knows how fast they will be.
Must obey the taco man.
Comment by Adam Yost August 23, 2006 @ 2:32 pmThis article was about Digital Printing and marketing. And how it is marketing process. Then it talks about the latest in Digital Printing technology and the prices that go with it.
Comment by Amber Stack August 23, 2006 @ 2:32 pmthe article was ok but I really didnt undrestand where it was coming from but it was intereasting to learn how that market is growing.
Comment by tim chestnut August 23, 2006 @ 2:32 pmWhile i dont think i fully grasped the concept of the article, due to short attention span concerning anything dull, i think that the technological advancement of any industry can only help to increase the printing industry for the better.
Comment by Perin August 23, 2006 @ 2:33 pmI think by 2010 or around that time that all machines will all be all digital. I do agree woth this articles that Digital printers are much better and much easier to use. I didnt know that a digital printer could print 104 pages this articles really lets us know how digital printers have grown in the past years.
Comment by Jowanna Wray August 23, 2006 @ 2:34 pmI think that the growth of technology is a very important part of our future, and that the growth of digital computers is a very important aspect and proof that the digital world is expanding
Comment by Adam De Simone August 23, 2006 @ 4:21 pmi think that the way of printing is changing rapidly.honestly i thought this article is useless…but it was interresting
Comment by chris hayden August 23, 2006 @ 4:24 pmi think that the future of technology is important because the new generation will then be shown how technology works and we will be able to better understand how the digital computers really work and it is important that it expands so be will get a better use of it..
Comment by amber hall August 23, 2006 @ 4:26 pmThis article was talking about the upgrades that are going on every year. Now a days techs are finding new ways to improve everything that we have you dont have time to get used to the software you already have!
Comment by Marc Currens August 23, 2006 @ 4:26 pmHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Comment by shaniqua laforna August 23, 2006 @ 4:27 pmI agree with this article as well. Digital Printing is something that we should all look forward to in the near future. The industry is growing rapidly and people should really think about investing in its growth. Everyone will enjoy this new feature and advancement in digital technology in our world today.
Comment by Kristina Lewis August 23, 2006 @ 4:27 pmi realy like tis digitol stuf and i wood think it be bester if all thnigs were digtol
Comment by shaniqua laforna August 23, 2006 @ 4:28 pmThis article is exactly right, the digital printing and market industries are growing at an extremely rapid pace. And although many applications are being made and people finding work in these fields, there is always more room in the digital world. Digital technology is such a growing business that many people find these jobs right after they get a degree in the area they are interested. So they are not only finding work, but they like what they do, which is always hard to find. So i agree with the article whole heartedly.
Comment by Harrison Popovich August 23, 2006 @ 4:29 pmYes, this article is very good. The way it tell about the way it’s growing every year by year. Still I have to said in the near future, not sure how near is near, but soon the digital world will be everywhere. Not just near and there, but your home to your school and to your work place.

Comment by Chris Bancroft August 23, 2006 @ 4:29 pmthis whole article just kinda confused me so i dont know what to say about it except that.
Comment by Allison Gillispie August 23, 2006 @ 4:30 pmI did not really enjoy this article, mainly because i am not really interested in this sort of subject. It is good to know that our technology is still growing, but i can’t relate very well to it. I understand that 41% of the businesses have a more advanced type of printing technology, but what does that leave for the other 59%? Also, i know that the technology will become cheeper once they are able to make the equipment at a more swift pace, and more people have it. But at the present time, all this article does is tell me that some poeple have this type of printing, but a regular printer works just as good if you ask me.
Comment by Thomas Royse August 23, 2006 @ 4:30 pmI didn’t really understand the article that well and it wasn’t interesting it was boring
Comment by Taylor Gabbard August 23, 2006 @ 4:31 pmIt didn’t make any sence. I don’t know much about computers
Comment by Paul Eldred August 23, 2006 @ 4:31 pmEvery passing year heralds new technological advancements as well as improvements to technology that has been around for… well, 20+ years. The quality of a printed document is extremely important, especially in the marketing industry (ads in magazines, on billboards, etc.), and in order for a business to have the “best” document they possibly can, it would be imperative to switch to a digital printing system. I believe firmly that within the next decade, most of our “out-dated” machinery will become digital (35mm cameras, for instance, may become completely obsolete), and both the quality of the document as well as the speed with which it is produced will increase. This market has grown by leaps and bounds! ⌐.⌐
Comment by Tiffany Wix August 23, 2006 @ 4:31 pmThat article was confusing. i didnt understand it much at all. o well. i dont find digital printing a vary interesting subject
Comment by Kevin wiley August 23, 2006 @ 4:32 pmWell, I think its good that digital printers are coming up in many graphic arts firms. Hoprfully later in the furture alot of home& work items can become digital. But I still think The Digital Printers you list Cost alot.
Comment by brume August 23, 2006 @ 4:32 pmI think this article shows the growth in technology of digital printing and shows how important it is to all of us. Digital printing’s quality is getting better all the time.
Comment by Chris Bancroft August 23, 2006 @ 4:33 pmIt was a ok printing story but I don’t get it wat is so important about printing then writing taking the paper than give it to some body then it is over you know u need to stop wasting paper N E ways that is y I did not get it
Comment by shelby copeland August 23, 2006 @ 4:33 pmI find it somewhat conforting that our technology is growing the way that it is even if i found this article not very interesting. Its kinda dissapointing that only 41% offer the digital printing but i guess overtime that that will change and more buisnesses will be able to. I feel that overtime the world will end up being alot more digital even if it does take awhile. Yeah other than that i don’t have anything left to say about this article.
Comment by Kirby Schagane August 23, 2006 @ 4:34 pmI agree with the artile but i really didn’t understand what was really going on it seem to me that it was talking about computer and how they upgraded over a period of time. The way of technology changes rapidly .
Comment by Shawn Robinson August 23, 2006 @ 4:34 pmi think that the ways of printing things i rapidly changing. soon we may be using other more effecient ways if printing things. technolgoy is an important part of our future.
Comment by chris hayden August 23, 2006 @ 4:34 pmi think this article is right. Our technology has grown so much since just last year and it is a good thing it has grown so much. At the rate it keeps growing we will have have everything digital and make our life so much easier in just a couple of years.
Comment by Amber Hines August 23, 2006 @ 4:35 pmyea this article really made an importance in my life and i would reccomend it to anyone. the digital technology is good to know about
Comment by victor binning August 23, 2006 @ 4:35 pmThis article is about how our technology is growing so much day by day. I believe this is a good thing because we are advancing in technology every helps us. Digital printers is just one example of our technology advancing everyday. I still believe digital printers still cost a lot of money but they will get cheaper.
Comment by Ryan Houghton August 23, 2006 @ 4:35 pmThis article mainly talked about how digital prining has increased since last year which has been predicted by analysis. I guess it is a big help to companies who are involved in digital printing. It just shows how fast market continues to grow. This was an interesting article about how technology keeps growing
Comment by Adam De Simone August 23, 2006 @ 4:35 pmTrue,True!! Printing is quickly changing to digital. The growth of technologe is a very BIG part of our future, and is used daily. Digital tech. is growing rapidly.
Comment by Whitney Conner August 23, 2006 @ 4:36 pmlol
Comment by Whitney Conner August 23, 2006 @ 4:37 pmroflmao ur articles suck
Comment by chris hayden August 23, 2006 @ 4:38 pmI thought the article was very elobarate and constructed a well and comprehensive background of what type of digital printing is used today. I think that the TWGA explains exactly what the creatives, and publishers do with the digital printing market and how it reflects on society in toadys market place. I think that the special report paragraph illistartes and accurate view of the new digital printing that includes the new colored digital printing server instead of the old printing server that only includes the black and white version of the digital printing.
Comment by Nathan Taylor August 23, 2006 @ 4:40 pmI think that the article really talks about technology in the future and how it will be so high tech by then. Also how technology has grown so much up until now. I think that by then all machines will be digtial too so will computers. I think that the digtal world will expand greatly in the future.
Comment by Sakia Hanson #21 August 23, 2006 @ 4:40 pmSo far I understand deals this articel with the different types of digital printing and in witch direction the trend goes on.
Comment by Philipp Meinen (Exchange student from Germany) August 23, 2006 @ 4:40 pmIt shows you that digital printing become one of the most important things in the business of some companies.
The digital world is more and more expanding. Technology become one of the most important things in our future.
If you don’t have the money or you don’t want to buy this new technologies you are not able to compete anymore.
The different types of printing or the different printers have a big role.
Some buisness needs more faster printers and other people said that quality is the most important thing.
I’m of the opinion that you can’t exist in the future without new technologies and the competens to use them.
the new rise in the printing industry is kind of weard ,and it sees to open up more oppertunites for printers. but to me it seems that the rise is too much and that the industry will get to far infront of it self. i really didn’t understand what it was saying and really i think that it maybe alittle to much. but on the other hand understand its nice that new tecnolgy is being used to kind of put the old way to rest. if i new more about this i would be able to make better commit on it. so i guess that the old way must have been a ineficent way for printing. and in the way the new way has come on it seems that for that industry the rise would be good. i think that for the bussiness that can’t afford to switch to the new way will have to pay a larger price to try to keep up with the other companies at which will hurt them and maybe cause them to fail. also as far as the new tecnolgy so will the prices go up and if they do will it hurt the economy.
Comment by jonathan ball August 23, 2006 @ 4:41 pmthis article was very interesting; it talks about our tecnology that evrey year is getting new things for us. it looks like our digital printer is going to be much better in the future. consistend growth in digital printing black and white and color copies volume.maybe in some more years printers would do all the job that we do.
Comment by thanya aburto August 23, 2006 @ 4:48 pmin the article says how much cost a priter 2006. they need to heve good prices so people can buy those so they can’t affect the economy.
This article is about the Presstek Vector TX52 two-up 20′’ thermal metal platesetter, which is a device that makes preparing plates a lot faster, easier, more environmentally friendly – because there isn’t as much waste material, and it uses less materials, also more of the work is done by the machine, like the rinsing in plate washer after it’s finished. You don’t need any special cleaning fluids and there is no gumming on this machine. Another great thing about it is it’s safe to use in daylight, no more fighting over the dark room, or entering it and exposing others work to burn plates, also the plates require no baking. I think this will really improve the amount of plates and rate of plates produced, and reduce the waste and use of materials.
Comment by Ashley Thompson August 24, 2006 @ 2:24 pmDigital printing is a process that is growing tremendously fast today. People are switching to it because it has much better quality. Eventually I think there will come a day when that will be the only method. There are many, though they are somewhat expensive, choices of programs for digital printing. Fortunately because of this rapid growth, job oppurtunities are opening up for many who desire a career in this area. The only issue now is that smaller firms fall in the gaps because larger firms are more likely to have the money for digital printing. Again, with it growing so quickly, i think eventually even smaller firms will be able to afford it at a reasonable price.
Comment by Rachel Holtzclaw August 24, 2006 @ 2:31 pmIts good to hear that digital printing is on the rise. More and more companies these days have high demands for quality printing. As technology increases the number of businesses that will need prints will grow enormously. Many businessed are investing in new printing equipment because they know it will be crucial in the future. Without this new technology the businesses production would slow down and cuase loss of revenue. The reports published help these businesses see the growth of printing. Black and white page pringting is also becoming very popular. Its not as good qaulity but cheaper cost. 41% of digital printing art firms offer digital printing in house. That just a new fact about digital printing.
